Integrating the Neuroexperiental Model with Equine Assisted Healing
Integrating the Neuroexperiental Model with Equine Assisted Healing
EquiAttune integrates the healing qualities of equine assisted psychotherapy and learning models into the Dual Attunement Frame of the Neuroexperiential Model of Brainspotting. The dual attunement frame consists of a relational frame and a neurobiological frame from which a client mindfully processes through past trauma stored in the body, moving towards nervous system regulation. The presence of equine partners provides dual regulation from both a relational and neurobiological standpoint.
Cara Wilkerson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Florida, and Texas. She is a Brainspotting Consultant and an Approved Specialty Workshop provider, an EMDRIA Consultant and Specialty Trainer, and is certified in Brainspotting, EMDR, and the Eagala Model of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning. In addition Cara is Level 1 trained in the Natural Lifemanship Model of equine assisted services, and is trained in EA-EMDR (equine assisted EMDR).
EquiAttune follows the Uncertainty Principle, and the client's nervous systems ability to heal and change. Within the safe therapeutic relationship of the human and equine treatment team, and the neurobiological frame of the brainspot (a relevant eye position or body spot), client's are able to process through past traumas the body is currently responding to, and increase regulation within the nervous system.
EquiAttune intergrates the Neuroexperiental model and the Dual Attunement Frame of Brainspotting into Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning Sessions. EquiAttune is a client centered, focused mindfulness approach, that adds the attuned presence of equines to assist in regulating the nervous system for healing trauma.
